Summary: Kid Pix 3 Deluxe installer says "Win NT 4.0 requires
SP3"
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
To reproduce: buy a copy of Kid Pix 3 Deluxe
(list price $20, but you can get it for $2 at
http://www.shop.com/op/aprod-p18756232?sourceid=3 or $5 at
http://www.surpluscdrom.com/seansky82aw-store/kidpixdeluxe3.html)
or borrow one from your neighbor's kid :-)
Try to run the installer under a fresh copy of Wine.
It will refuse to run, saying
"SETUP32
Your system does not meet the minimum system
requirements. Windows NT 4.0 requires Service Pack
3 to run this product."
An easy workaround is to run winecfg and tell it to
act like win98, but we should not require that workaround.

what is ASIO?
do you have documentation pointers?
I think we should not run ASIO drivers, but support ASIO from apps using the
normal UNIX mechanisms.

I forgot to mention: you have to run winecfg and tell
wine to act like win98. kid pix's installer refuses to run
with the default setting (but that's another bug).

Install under Wine.
When the installer gets to the part about registering,
try to use Internet to send in your registration.
You'll get a dialog box saying that setup couldn't
find wininet.dll, or something like that.

(Don't do this over a remote X connection, or you'll run into
a different bug.)
To repeat, first download PAF5.2 from http://www.familysearch.org/eng/paf/
(free registration required). Then do
wine PAF5EnglishSetup.exe
Click "OK" when given a choice of setup language
Click "Next" at first install wizard screen
At this point, the license agreement dialog will
display, but it will not contain anything.
