I had a lot of these errors some days ago, but upgrading xorg-x11 fixed it.
However it seems that some apps still suffer from a bug in xorg-x11 or Wine.
I have xorg-x11-6.8.2-r5 (Gentoo).
If you think this bug is not Wine specific, you can close this bug as well.

This doesnt appear to be a problem with the installer and rather a problem
with W95INF16.DLL which is part of DCOM98.
By any chance is that company the big evil (BBC viewers may of seen their boss
in the news) :-). The way IES4LINUX works is by downloading a pre downloded
package from browsers.evolt.org.
Is there a way you could fix this? I guess it is something to do with the
registry (possible fix for the WGA).
Good luck developers.

Ok, I can further report that it "works" in emulation mode as well.
Only hardware vertex shaders are broken.

Okay I was just beggining to wonder how is it that you manage to get all those
games to run/install! I haven't been able to get a single one running - I've
tried about 6... the one game that worked (Warcraft 3) no longer works (I blame
dsound).
However.... progress. I turned off Vertex Shaders (Hardware -> None).
First time I ran it it said that I have 200MB in my swap file which is not big
enough to run dsiege.. output says Sharing Violation. The second time it ran,
and I can report the same behavior that you saw - I get to the menu, but sound
is choppy, slow, and I can't see the mouse. Output includes this:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne underrun on sound buffer 0x78318518
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_SetCursorProperties (0x7ff62cb0) :
surface(0x772c5098) has an invalid size
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne underrun on sound buffer 0x78318518
--repeats--

There are lot's of exceptions being kicked up all over the place, the last one
seems to be to do with shaders, can you try to run the game with shaders
either enabled or disabled depending on your current configuration.
It looks like the version I'm running is 2.0, with shaders enabled.
