[Bug 6086] Master of Orion 2 hangs as soon as mouse is moved

I start the game, and after a couple of screens showing the developers' logos, an introductory movie begins. I can either let the movie play through, or hit the ESC key to abort it, it doesn't seem to make any difference. I then get to the Master of Orion 2 main menu (called the "Universal Menu" in the manual). If I move the mouse slowly, I can drag the cursor to the "New Game" button and click on it, which opens the new game menu (called the "Galactic Setup" in the manual). At this point, it doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I try to move the mouse, the game hangs as soon as I move it. As you suggested, I waited for ten seconds before trying to move the mouse, but it still hangs.
