What D3D8 apps in particular? Could you provide links to any demos? Could you
try again with the latest (0.9.11 as of this writing) version of Wine? What
program is that a screenshot of?

Here are the two interesting-looking lines from the log right before the
error dialog:
fixme:richedit:IRichEditOle_fnInPlaceDeactivate stub 0x7e4f3ec8
fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_FindConnectionPoint no connection point for

Probably riched20's missing COM support, but I wouldn't know...

I got this on ubuntu-05.10 when I mistakenly did
sudo apt-get install giflib3g-dev
instead of
sudo apt-get install libungif4-dev

Dmitri says:
"Missing fontforge means that you don't have Wine builtin fonts which
leads to the above problems. The solution obviously is to install
fontforge or use a binary Wine package instead."

The key error appears to be
fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_FindConnectionPoint no connection point for
{33ad4ed2-6699-11cf-b70c-00aa0060d393}
although there are many others (I'll upload a log).
I have a hunch that UUID is associated with RichEd20's
COM support, but I wouldn't know how to check.
