Summary: DirectX 9.0c not detected (EQ2.exe)
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://everquest.com
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: nospam(a)thenerdshow.com
Everquest II fails to detect DirectX 9.0c. I think this game would work if we
could fool the detection library into thinking we have DirectX 9.0c installed.
I think the problem has to do with the game looking for the Nvidia Control Panel
. Will try installing the nvidia control panel next and see what happens. Be
nice if there was a solution that didn't involve hot-patching the binary.

Could you do a relay trace and post say the last 200 lines before and after the
crash? Warning the log will be huge (probably > 100MB) before you cut it down
to the requested lines.

No, its indeed not a dup.
And the assertion is not bogus.
The real problem is that snes9x does the following.
Item.mask=LVIF_TEXT
=> Assertion fails.
But the application should not be allowed to change the mask in the first place.
The application should only change the text-related values of the item.
If it does mis-behave, wine should not copy this over.
It could also be already enough to just use the normal GetItem function, which
is not internal, but external and such copies the data.

I can confirm the divide by zero exception at the same address (0x00c7797f) for
wine 0.9.9-0.9.12 on gentoo. This is also the case for Photoshop CS. I didn't
test any earlier versions of wine however. I can provide additional information
if needed.
