I've attached requested log here
Don't pay attention to the
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found! (XRandR)
and sound messages, they were always present, and didn't prevent Serious Sam
from starting fine. Regards

I just tried to change the background picture. Blobby Volley uses "bvbg.bmp" in
it's directory, if existing, as game background instead of the default picture
(rendered beach), see "Instructions.txt". I used Image Magick's convert program
to create such a file (convert whatever.png -scale 800x600 bvbg.bmp) and this
picture was shown correctly in the game. (The blobs still were not, as was to be
expected)
I hope this helps to narrow down the bug.
I *guess* it has to do with parsing the images, which are packaged with BV,
thinking of e.g. a rarely used or compressed bmp subtype. This is, if there is
an API/wine call like LoadBitmap(..) or LoadTexture(..) or so.

Summary: Diamond Mind Baseball used to work now does not
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.20.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: stevefeinstein(a)yahoo.com
I use Ubunutu Dapper. Under Ubuntu Breezy, Diamond Mind Baseball worked without
problems. Dapper uses Wine 0.9.9. Under this version, one of the display
controls (the one showing Replay) - which I think may be a listbox - is not
showing all text, only some of it and is difficult to read.
I installed both version 0.9.20 and 0.9.21 to see if the problem was fixed. The
problem is now worse. Diamond Mind Baseball loads information from files in a
folder called rptdes. You can see if it was successful by going to
Reports->Standard and seeing if anything is in the listbox.
Diamond Mind also uses those files (or similar ones in another folder - not
sure) to populate the playing screen. So now because the files are not getting
loaded, I get the message "Error loading the report design information". And
then the program crashes.
I installed Crossover Office. It appears to use Wine 20050830. Diamond Mind
Baseball works fine under this version.
So the error was introduced between 20050830 and 0.9.9 and a worse error was
introduced between 0.9.9 and 0.9.20.

I did try 0.9.21 (winegit from a day or so ago) with native DLLs. It works much
better than in 0.9.20, however, it runs into the problem below and then it
doesn't work after that (no input works, except close), plus it never populates
the cache listing area with the default database (which has 41 caches in it).
fixme:shell:MLLoadLibraryW (L"shdoclc.dll",0xcc0000,2) semi-stub!
If I use SHLWAPI.DLL natively, I just get a crash (wine crash).
Everything was a fresh install. GSAK and .wine directory. It still doesn't
work with non-native DLLs. Same issue.

Read explanation for "blocker". This bug doesn't qualifies as such.
Also your log looks wrong. You seems using unsopported flags. Please refer to

Using Wine 0.9.21-15.1 as it comes and notes client 6.5.5 the bug still exists.
Did the path make it to the release or do I have to apply it?

I have tried reinstalling (removing my .wine) several times with various version
of wine past 0.9.16 including a few versions of crossover wine (based on 0.9.19
and I believe the later one is based on 0.9.20). Same result as the above. I
did try it with the native DLL SHDOCVW.DLL a few times (only with SHLWAPI.DLL
once), to the effect that it eventually popped up the caches window, but never
populated it with anything. I tried to get some output from that to see why it
was getting hung up, but when I used the same debug switches, I no longer saw
the "crash" (wine didn't crash before, but the application looked like it
crashed which is what I meant in my previous posts) but instead it appeared to
be in some sort of sleep loop. I'll have to post a log of that when I get it
recompiled with the latest code (I stored some of the logs, but they were just
HUGE and I had to get rid of them). I even tried putting in stubs for the
interface that was missing (IPerPropertyBrowsing as it turns out) and I got as
far as the SHDOCVW.DLL, but no further. I'll try again with the native .DLLs
and see if I can post my logs. It just seemed, at the time, with all the shell
FIXMEs that appeared I wasn't going to have much luck getting past that screen.
And yes, that link will point you to an older version of the app. You can also
download it from www.gsak.net (that is the version I'm using 6.6.3). I have
tried 6.6.1, and gotten the same result. There is another forum of users (most
of whom haven't tried as much as I have to push past 0.9.16) that are having the
same problem there. For now I let them know they should probably stick with
0.9.16 until a patch or workaround can be found.
I'd really like to get this working with version 0.9.21 because it appears that
Wine has fixed a "bug" I was having with wcmd before which would make it much
easier to use and I could at least put it in the "bronze" column.
