I had some correspondence with the Mount & Blade game developers. They kindly provided me with necessary protector version numbers. For v0.892 game version, Themida v1.9.5.0 was used - which seems to work in wine without major issues (excluding ring0 stuff). The version which showed the crash symptoms was 1.8.4.0 Unfortunately this can't be fixed without breaking major stuff - due to problematic/intrusive behavior of protector (would be great waste of time). Oreans official changelogs filtered for "wine": --- snip --- Themida [1.9.3.0] (02-Aug-2007): Fixed compatibility in some applicatons with API-Wrapper enabled and running under Wine Themida [1.8.9.0] (28-Mar-2007): Wine: Fixed compatibility issue with antidebug under Wine Wine: Fixed compatibility issue with API-Wrapper under Wine for some applications Themida [1.8.4.0] (06-Nov-2006): Added compatibility with Wine --- snip --- At least 1.9.3.0 or better 1.9.5.0+ is needed to exclude the protector as immediate cause for game/app crashes in wine. This applies to all GameGuard protected games like MapleStory, Albatross18 ... You have to wait until INCA Internet, the company behind GameGuard bundles their GameMon.des module with newer Themida version until any serious look on this beast can be taken.
