No problem. This is from the URL above:
To activate your installation of Delphi 7 Personal edition, just visit the
Borland website and create an account. Then visit the download area and there
you will a link to create an activation code for your Delphi 7 Personal
Edition.

Sorry, I'm wrong.
I've let someone install the same Delphi 7 package on Windows XP Prof. w/ SP2
and he had to type in the serial and the authorization key...
Though I do not understand (and I'm searching for other, say, NEVER, versions
on the net right now) why the woman said that the registration feature has been
dropped, if it wasn't. Weird. Anyways, I let you know when I've got something
working. :)
In the meantime I have to apologize for that.

You're welcome :-)
Hmm. I'm setting the component back to msi for now
in hopes James will have a look and see if he can
see why the license prompt comes up in wine and
not in windows. (James, I haven't verified myself
that it doesn't come up in Windows, but the OP says it doesn't...)

Hi Dan,
first of all I want to thank you for your cross developing howtos and hints,
although it has nothing to do with WINE. :)
Back to business. I've got one printer on LAN, this time online.
The other thing is that this message should not appear at all anymore. At least
under Windows (if you have the OS anyways, ATM I do not have it on any of my
boxes) there comes no serial window, because Borland dropped that "feature" (I
had a phone call with a person on the CodeGear support hotline regarding this.)
In other words you should not need to type in any key and the installation
should just leave out that step. I really tried it on Windows and it is really
like this.
So either we could try to fix that bug (regression) or find out, why the
installation routine wants us to insert some nasty digits and alphas - and to
bypass it, as it occurs on Windows.
Ideas? :)

A bit more info. The custom action DLL msi4d97.tmp retrieves the
auth key you typed in, then immediately
0342:Call msi.MsiGetPropertyA(00000002,00883441 "AUTH_KEY",00d41a28,7cf216bc)
ret=008318fe
...
KERNEL32.WideCharToMultiByte(00000000,00000000,001905a8
L"Y3T-?U8",ffffffff,00000000,00000000,00000000,00000000) ret=7e560a75
...
0342:Ret msi.MsiGetPropertyA() retval=00000000 ret=008318fe
0342:Call KERNEL32.LoadLibraryA(00d41b38 "C:\\windows\\temp\\borlndlm.dll")
ret=0083194b
Once that DLL is loaded, one sees
0342:Call KERNEL32.GetProcAddress(009a0000,0088344a "validate") ret=0083195c
and then the library is immediately unloaded... and one sees
0342:Call msi.MsiSetPropertyA(00000002,00883453 "BadPassword",00000000)
ret=008319a5
!
So perhaps borlndlm.dll is unhappy for some reason. I don't know.
Anyway, if it's a copy protection thing, it might be a bit beyond
my ken to debug.

This is a system configuration issue (likely a driver bug), so not a Wine bug.

Just a note, I have found a workaround.
Keep a window open in the background. *Not* a terminal window or other window
waiting for input.
By pressing alt+tab and temporarily bringing up the task-changer window, the
mouse is unstuck, provided you click before releasing the keys.
This description may not be totally accurate, but it is the best I could do -
you sort of have to feel it out. It really isn't ideal, but allows you to at
least play the game.
