Summary: Lotr:BFME II demo installer requires c:\windows\temp in
standard path
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.37.
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=6613
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vit.hrachovy(a)sandbox.cz
LOTR: BFME II demo installer requires c:\windows\temp to be in the application path.
1. WinZip self-extracing archive extracts files into c:\windows\temp random
subdir and places installer into c:\windows\temp\AutoRun.exe and
c:\windows\temp\AutoRunGUI.dll.
2. Then it reports that it cannot run .\AutoRun.exe
The problem may be that it also fails to chdir to c:\windows\temp
This problem may affect WinZip self-extracting archives too:

Since the CVS snapshot at 2007/05/26, the crash has been solved and the
installer now works correctly. Maybe it has something to do with the oleaut32
commnt by Robert Shearman. Just a note: registration of an ActiveX control by
this installer requires the presence of a working MFC40.DLL which is not present
(not even stubbed out) in Wine. Maybe it is time to start implementing this DLL ?
Fixed in CVS

Summary: 3DMark2000 hangs up when cancelling operation.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.37.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

3DMark2000 works really fine, but every time I try to abort the benchmark (with
escape), it stops, shows a little windows saying "aborted" and then hangs with
the debugger.
You can download it here http://www.tucows.com/preview/211318 to reproduce the bug.
I will attach the console output.

I think it's an issue with all Source games. I crash randomly playing Day of
Defeat: Source as well. I think it depends on the map though. One Day of
Defeat map allowed me to play without crashing. Went to a different map and it
crashes within 5 minutes. I've yet to find a map in CS:S that let me play
indefinitely, but I haven't tried too many.

I'm beginning to think it's probably something unrelated to wine... like freetype
maybe. Garrys mod keeps crashing for me after a random time, just like CSS.
Which is a pain because it takes an hour to start it back up again because of the
SteamStartup registry in use issue which happens 99.9999999% of the time
/me cries in desperation.

Please try the patch on bug 7685
(http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5361&action=view) and report whether
it helps.

I thought send() is supposed to take care of buffering, delays, etc. So you
hand it a buffer and a length.
I don't have a Wine compile environment -- did someone else try the patch? Has
the patch been rolled into a new version of Wine?
thanks
