I ran across this issue in the Direct3D options in graphics. Some combinations
of Vertex Shader Support (hardware, none) and enabling/disabling pixel shader
causes the game to look like your screenshots. The the case of pixel shader you
might not have the appropriate hardware.

I think you're on to something with the timestamp.
Tar was also throwing up a bunch of warnings about files in the archive being
from the future, and it wouldn't surprise me if this somehow confused configure.
The source of the problem was vmware - when you suspend a virtual machine, some
strange things can happen to the system time unless you enable a certain option
to keep it in sync.
I reset the system clock on the VM and rebuilt the package, and all appears to
be normal. Closing bug.

Strage, there is no toolbar output. Could you make sure there is no spelling
mistake (check that the WINEDEBUG=+toolbar log is empty)? This could mean that
the application uses a custom control (or maybe standard pushbuttons).

I just finished the regression test.
As the bug doesn't show itself always on the same moment, I may have marked good
a revision which was not.
That is, I encoded the same DVD again and again at each revision tested, with a
pre-cleaning (DVD Shrink writes some analysis files for each DVD), so it
restarted all the work each time.

ntlm_auth is part of the samba suite. Ubuntu ships it in the "winbind" deb, IIRC.
Please install that deb and try again.
