On my system, Debian Etch, wine-0.9.34, the game also crashes with version
1.05, see attachment above.

I determined a bit more on what the problem is:
If the game is hosted either by dedicated server or staring a local server
using Wine, then joining the game will fail. If I start a server on a real
Windows system, then I can join it fine using Serious Sam under Wine.
So the issue is the game runs fine using Wine, but hosting a game using Wine
doesn't work. The game has to be hosted on a real Windows system.

The only thing that comes to my mind currently is Guild Wars itself - you don't
need an account to confirm the problem - it already consists on the login
screen..
BUT: the game is *very* large...almost about 4 GB - without having entered the
game maybe (much) less because all the data from the individual game instances
(missions) is loaded when first entering it..
Install-Program itself: about 100 kB
Can be installed without having an account or CD-Key - the CD-Key is only
needed for creating an account which you need at the login screen to enter the
game.
But as the problem already consists on the login-screen you don't need the
account..
if anyone wants to try - with the following command it works on my system:
wine "C:\Program Files\Guildwars\Gw.exe" -nosound

I can't duplicate this bug with any other application even the Warcraft III
demo works just fine.
So I guess it's something else.

I struggled with this for a while and checked several forums trying several
different solutions. Finally I found this forum and the command: onenice -n
19 wine Steam.exe
This solved the problem and it is now working great. I'm using Mandriva with
the latest version of wine. Thx for the help!!

Can anyone provide a link to a free program that demonstrates this problem?
