Summary: Sound is cracking after commit
717df5b2972b3cb998ca5a43279ae2283b117eaa
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.9
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: winmm&mci
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: adam(a)tpetaccia.com
Playing Warcraft III (the Frozen Throne or not) sound played "crackles".
Enabling driver emulation in winecfg mostly makes the problem go away, but it
is still slightly present. Reverting commit
717df5b2972b3cb998ca5a43279ae2283b117eaa makes the problem go away again.

Ah, I see it now. I do not run wine on 64 bit platform. It is just 32 bit. And
no, the bug is not fixed in the newest revision.
And I am able to reproduce the bug on debian and redhat EL4/5. I use a simple
window manager like fvwm which do not do something strange than gnome or kde...

Ok, I _tryed_ to insert the original author of the patch but bugzilla refused
this.
By the way, you could write on the login page that cookies are needed!

For long time now I have problems with the patch
d836a5062141dd42293ed044debbaf25f914f383.
Since this patch I cannot use wine anymore without reverting the patch with
every new version. The only application I use wine for is WoW. But I have no
sound problem with the patch, the whole application will breake when I left the
window.
The problem is that if WoW lost the focus it try to deiconify or something like
that and steal the focus back. That happens once or twice and then it gives up
and I have no WoW window anymore. The sound is playing on so I hear that WoW is
still running but I cannot interact as there is no window anymore.
Please drop this very broken patch to let futur versions of wine work again
properly.
-- Klaus Ethgen
Ps. I put the original author of the patch to the CC.
PPs. Another boring account just to report the problem. I'd like to just send
bug reports by E-Mail.
