Summary: 'failed to map segment from shared object' error where
virtual memory is limited with ulimit or limits.conf
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.4
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tkedwards(a)fastmail.com.au
If the user who you run wine as has a limit on the amount of virtual memory
they can use (set directly through ulimit -v or through as - address space
limit in limits.conf) wine will not work. The error message is:
wine: failed to initialize: /usr/lib/wine/ntdll.dll.so: failed to map segment
from shared object: Cannot allocate memory
Removing the limit on virtual memory works around this issue.

Summary: Missing mouse cursor in C&C 3

Command and Conquer 3 seems to use animated cursors, and these have never
worked. However, older versions of wine displayed a cursor (basically the
standard black on white pointer, but rotated about 45 degrees
counterclockwise), as of Wine 0.9.57, Wine does not display a cursor at all.
This turned C&C 3 from very playable into completely unplayable, despite being
nearly flawless otherwise (bug 8122 being a minor exception).

Summary: WINEDEBUG=+d3d_shader changes the way program behaves
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.8
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: seppo.yli-olli(a)iki.fi
Mass Effect repeatedly crashes for me after menu. (fbo set)
Since there was a bunch of fixme's regarding d3d_shader in the wine log, I
thought to see if there was something odd visible with WINEDEBUG=+d3d_shader
on.
Wine couldn't even start graphical mode with the flag set on, it crashed
instantly. This probably shouldn't happen, it seems to me impossible to debug a
problem if behaviour changes when debug flags change program behaviour. The
latter thing is repeatable too.

Summary: WINECFG window appears unfocused
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.8
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tsalacinski(a)gmail.com
There is a small bug in winecfg application. If user unchecks the "Allow window
manager to decorate windows" and "Allow the window manager to control windows"
wine draws window borders. It's ok, but unfortunately winecfg appears as
unfocused (even though I am clicking on the window and doing stuff) - the title
bar is a grey to light grey gradient instead of blue. Clicking on the desktop
and clicking again on winecfg window brings the focus to winecfg. If user will
start winecfg and won't click on anything else than winecfg's window, it won't
take focus at all.
It happens only with winecfg (all applications I am using are working fine), so
I think it is related only to winecfg. Cheers

I am assigning myself to this bug because I have started implementing
windowless richedit controls according to my proposed steps I already
mentioned.
I have an initial implementation of ITextHost, and now I need to replace
references to editor->hWnd with calls to ITextHost_Tx*. I replaced a couple
GetDC calls and made sure it compiled and run without problems, so the calling
calling convention wrappers seem to be working. It won't be until I can
completely get rid of the ME_TextEditor.hWnd variable that I will be able to
move on to implementing ITextServices.
In the mean time, if someone wants to help me, adding TextServices tests would
be very helpful.
