I think there would be a lot of glad people if (in case the bug is fixed) this
change will come in wine 1.0 ...
Actually, there is no linux-FTP-programm with the functionality of FlashFXP ...
Thanks ...

Neither do I. The bug is confusing and maybe should just be marked as INVALID
or WONTFIX. As it stands, it isn't clear what exactly is it people are
complaining about, so chances of these problems ever being fixed are low.
Wine can run many 8bpp games on 24bpp display (e.g. Starcraft, Red Alert, Total
Annihilation), and even on cheap but relatively modern hardware they often run
very well (e.g. Starcraft is good on Athlon 3200 even in pure software
rendering), so it's unclear what people really try to "work around". Some
particular 8bpp games may be suffering from bugs in Wine code that prevent
them from running. Or from poor performance. If so, clear and concise
individual entries must be opened for such games/apps that crash or have
corrupted graphics etc.

I have a similar problem. I'm running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 (64 bit), Wine
1.0-rc1, ATi Radeon X1600 Pro w/ fglrx and an AMD Athlon 64 FX-57.
Running SC3.exe with Wine, the program will enter fullscreen mode and alter the
resolution, but will display either corrupted graphics, a blank screen or the
desktop at the altered resolution. The intro music will begin playing, until
any keyboard or mouse input at which point the game will produce the
"exceptional error" message.
I have uploaded a text file with the basic terminal output for such an attempt.
This does not include any debug tracing.

Created an attachment (id=12995)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12995)
SimTower on wine 1.0-rc1 (x86-64)
I have the same crash as the other attachment on version 1.0-rc1 except I
noticed on mine there was the error relating to the Win16Mutex which I thought
might be relevant.
