The amount of code shouldn't be a whole lot, but it would need to go somewhere
low-level like the loader, which is not something you want to casually mess
with. Going by the comments of Pierre and Janosch I doubt it would improve
things for this application though. Does setting CPU affinity to a single core
actually help for anyone here?

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.13 or newer) wine? Sounds like it was
fixed on kernel's end.

You should file a separate bug for this (run a regression test):
http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
assuming it still happens in 1.1.13.

--- Comment #69 from Leslie Houk <lhouk(a)lesliehouk.com> 2009-01-21 10:26:15 ---
Setting aside the philosophical discussions, from a purely technical basis, how
hard would it be to implement a fix? I know that Janosch submitted a patch in
Comment #60 (and a big thanks for doing so!), but I get the impression that it
is a kludge rather than a true fix. Are we talking about a major rewrite of
multiple modules, or just a few quick lines of code and maybe a check box in
wine-config? If it's the former, I agree we probably shouldn't devote the
resources to it, but if it's the latter, I don't see the harm.
Can anyone with a deeper knowledge of how Wine handles threads shed some light
on the level of effort a possible fix might require?
