My problem with the demo immediately crashing isn't true with 1.1.6 (though I
do have the 0Hz crash, that happens much later, after the game actually runs
and displays things) - I'm bisecting now.

Don't mind me - that was an expression of incredulity at winedbg core dumping,
not a reference to a copy protection crack.
For me, in a clean wine profile, latest git (wine-1.1.12-422-gce829f9), the
program crashes inside of the executable itself:
Backtrace:
=>0 0x0041aef1 in medieval_td (+0x1aef1) (0x0181f440)
1 0x000a0000 (0x03b90020)
2 0x00000000 (0x00000000)
0x0041aef1: movl 0x0(%eax),%ecx
Gonna do a quick reset to 1.1.6 to confirm that this works on my system with
1.1.6 and that this is an unrelated problem, then do a bisect to figure out
when this started breaking.

This bug happens when selecting 'Miles fast 2D positional audio' in Wizardry
config program (3DSetup.exe).
The game quits back to desktop correctly when I use 'RAD game tools RSX 3D
audio'.
Hope it helps.

Still present in git. Native dcom98 gets it slightly further, then a crash.
