Bug #: 33645
Summary: Multiple issues running Civilization 5 with Steam on
Ubuntu 13.04 and Wine.
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mr2131(a)cebridge.net
Classification: Unclassified
I am having numerous issues running Civ 5 on Linux. First, the game has
reverted to crashing on or about game turn 300, when set in epic play mode.
Second, I have lost access to some of the content that I have purchased and
downloaded through Steam. Third, I have lost access to all of the mods that I
have subscribed to in the Steam community workshop. I have already contacted
Steam support, and Civ 5 support, both of these have insisted that they do not
provide support for Steam games under Ubuntu. Can you help?

log for make install in the top directory
I've compiled wine 1.5.30 using:
[
./configure
make
make uninstall
make install
]
but libs/wine/libwine.so* was not installed, with the old ones left in
/usr/local/lib/, until I [ cd libs/wine/ ] and ran [ make install ].
(I had compiled and install wine 1.5.24 before.)
Will it be fixed?

Bug #: 33604
Summary: It's impossible to load a native DLL if a built-in one
with manifest exists
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.30
Platform: x86-64

Status: NEW
Severity: normal

Classification: Unclassified
I have an application which ships in its main .exe directory msvcrt90.dll
and msvcr100.dll. With built-in versions of these DLLs the application crashes,
so a reasonable way of action would be to run it with shipped native versions.
But running with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msvcr90=n,b" or specifying "msvcr90=n,b"
in Software\Wine\DllOverrides section in the registry still leads to loading
of built-in dll.
Bug 28225 for a similar problem with msvcp90.dll has been closed as WONTFIX,
and the suggestion was made to install msvcp90.dll globally. I don't see
the point in asking everyone who runs this applicaion to search and install
native runtime libraries since the libraries are already installed together
with application itself. What is worse, new native runtime could be not
compatible with this application, that's the whole point of SxS assemblies -
to be able to use the specific one.

Program Error Details
Civ V used to run great under Wine, but now consistently crashes at certain
points. The event triggering the crash appears to change between different
games.
I didn't observe this happening before installing Wine updates and upgraded
Ubuntu OS to Raring Ringtail 13.04 on April 6, 2013. I'm running the same
version of Civ V that worked previously and no updates have been released for
it.
Thanks - let me know if you would like more information and I'll give you what
I can.

Log when i launch the game with Wine
Hi,
There is a problem with this game. When i launch it with wine, the game crash
once game start with this error message :
..\..\..\src\thread\ms\thread.cpp(328) : ASSERT FAILURE: Ret()
But it's possible to launch the game correctly with "winedbg" even if i must to
press "c" 2-3 times to launch finally the game.
The game itself works, even if it's slow when there are more people or during
the fight but it's playable. I don't try to play in fullscreen mode for the
moment.
Anyone has a idea to search and try to find why the application does not works
with Wine ?
Thanks,
Berillions
