that's interesting because I can alt tab (running the game in fullscreen) to a
eg. a browser and open a new tab (which I can't see because I'm using fglrx
which comes with it's own alt-tab problems) using keyboard shortcuts and
"return" to the game and in-game keybord short-cuts will still work.

Yes, I've experienced noticeable improvement by lowering resolution. However,
moving the mouse to even deploy MCV makes me afraid of the lag I'd experience
if I was attempting to operate a full-sized base.
What I find to be the most-odd is the scrolling of the mouse seems to be the
only unaffected object in the lag. Unit movement, building/training queues,
and resource/money updates (like when you first start level and starting money
is added) all run slowly during mouse movement. However, you can freely move
the mouse around the screen with ease.

Just like Nikolay says in Comment 83, the Counter-Strike Steam version uses
Webkit.
You would need to use the non-Steam version for an accurate test.

Indeed, problem solved on wine-1.4.1.
The MOTD is correctly displayed on counter-strike 1.6 (Steam version).

Been experiencing mouse lag like crazy. Nothing I've tried has seemed to even
slightly improve the game speed.

Been trying to get Tiberian Sun to work on my mac for days. I've tried using
all kinds of different versions of Wine. I've tried following the tutorial
here for OpenGL and readtex. Haven't gotten anything to work yet. I don't
think this bug should be marked as closed.
Running an intel mac.
