No music, no menu sounds, no game sound. It USED TO WORK for years, up until a few weeks ago when I last played. Then today I tried to play again, and it doesn't work now. I did not change anything on my system or in my Skyrim, apart from doing regular system updates. I have: - verified game cache - updated and rebooted my system - reinstalled everything with winetricks that was installed before - installed xact via winetricks - reinstalled DirectX from game's directory - removed intro video file - toggled Wine from XP mode to Win 7 mode - made sure Wine uses pulseaudio - made sure speakers in Wine are set to stereo and not 5.1 None of these made a difference. But with winetricks -q ie8 and wine-staging I was able to go forward and login into an account that I have made before. It goes forward but it crashes at somepoint and the location is to my understanding related to msi. I dont know if this install is fully working because of the crash, trying to run the coreldraw it complains something about registery key not set and the something about your locale. According to the editor, it is the function used by Windows "SetFilePointer" which does not detect an anomaly whereas and with wine the software is blocked. I am surprised because wine functions very well with a large number of programs and this software uses only basic functions of Windows.
