Bug ID: 39517
Summary: No sound in Skyrim after intro video
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.53
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: hewanci(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
In Skyrim, the Bethesda intro does have sound, but nothing afterwards. No
music, no menu sounds, no game sound.
It USED TO WORK for years, up until a few weeks ago when I last played. Then
today I tried to play again, and it doesn't work now.
I did not change anything on my system or in my Skyrim, apart from doing
regular system updates.
I have:
- verified game cache
- updated and rebooted my system
- reinstalled everything with winetricks that was installed before
- installed xact via winetricks
- reinstalled DirectX from game's directory
- removed intro video file
- toggled Wine from XP mode to Win 7 mode
- made sure Wine uses pulseaudio
- made sure speakers in Wine are set to stereo and not 5.1
None of these made a difference.
Arch Linux 64 bit
wine-1.7.53-2
alsa 1.0.29-1
pulseaudio 7.0-2
pulseaudio-alsa 2-3
Steam is under a 32 bit wineprefix.

As pointed from comment 52 onwards this bug is fixed, I can reproduce the
original issue in wine 1.6 and no longer in wine 1.9.7.
The colors are wrong as in attachment 29576. But I will open a new bug for
that.

The installer hangs at somepoint like before when I tested it. Last lines are
jscript related.
wine 1.9.7.
But with winetricks -q ie8 and wine-staging I was able to go forward and login
into an account that I have made before. It goes forward but it crashes at
somepoint and the location is to my understanding related to msi.
I dont know if this install is fully working because of the crash, trying to
run the coreldraw it complains something about registery key not set and the
something about your locale. And it fails to start.
So I think there are at least 2 bugs blocking installing this software.

I retested wine 1.9.7 and still working, but the colors (palette?) is wrong.
The installer has a crash/hang at the end.

The problem of many users now with this bug is the impossibility of installing
the i386 packages of gstreamer1.0 bad and ugly in a 64 bits Ubuntu (and surely
Debian) distrib.

Well the issue is "psexec from pstools doesn't work", and PsExec still doesn't
work despite the implementation of mpr.WNetAddConnection2W, so I suggest the
issue be kept open and renamed.

Using a program published by the Milec company I discovered that a
functionality did not work correctly with Wine .
According to the editor, it is the function used by Windows "SetFilePointer"
which does not detect an anomaly whereas and with wine the software is blocked.
I am surprised because wine functions very well with a large number of programs
and this software uses only basic functions of Windows.
Thank you very much for the interest which you will carry to this anomaly
Very sincerely
