I'm stalled in a black screen after game launch, with or without the
"-force-d3d9" flag (I don't know how to debug the problem, so any help is very
welcome)
* initially, I found it to be caused by my change to AMD hardware, but it was
on coincidence: I tried on other machines (which in a prior version of Ubuntu,
16.04, worked) and the same behaviour occurred.
* I still have an ubuntu 16.04 installation working

wine staging 3.19 (git), Nvidia 396.54.09, DXVK 0.90, Steam version of JC3.
Sometimes the game doesn't launch any window (but keeps running) and sometimes
it gives a window that says "Server is not reachable, check net connection".
Pressing Next in that menu launches a broken game window (no video, wrong res)
and gives this error -
*** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated
0098:fixme:thread:NtSetInformationThread info class 7 not supported yet
007e:err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 16 bytes in thread 007e eip

It's weird since I've seen other people running the game through wine (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-RF7LsdoMY ). Maybe since then there was an
update (Denuvo?) and it doesn't work anymore? Who knows.

Bug ID: 45919
Summary: Installation of msi file fails after a former
uninstallation
Product: Wine
Version: 3.17
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msi
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: reinhold.hoffmann(a)hotmail.com
Distribution: Ubuntu
With Wine 3.17 a regression bug came in. For certain msi files the installation
fails in a sequence of the following steps:
Sequence:
---------
(1) installation of msi file - Result: OK
(2) uninstall same app with "Wine uninstaller" (with Remove) - Result: OK, app
gets uninstalled
(3) installation of same msi file as in (1) - Result: ERROR: Installation
Incomplete
(4) installation of same msi file as in (1) - Result: OK
Observation:
------------
In step (3) the installation fails but performing the same installation again
(step (4)), it is successfull. It looks as if in step (2) something does not
get properly uninstalled and as a result the next installation fails. But with
this failed installation in step (3) the clean-up finally happens and the
installation in step (4) is successful.
Performing the same sequence with msiexec debug logging is always OK.
In Wine-3.16 as well as in previous versions this installation sequnece had
worked perfect. So, I conclude that with 3.17 a regression bug came in.
(not sure if this issue is related to the fix of Bug 41325)
I will try to add more verbose data (comparison of Wine-3.16 vs. Wine-3.17) in
order to fully understand the bug.

Well, on 1.7.38 "RA2 Yuris Revenge" runs (didn't in 1.6.2), but lately i've
seen some glitches (Mission transitions, when you lose, when i took a
screenshot), nothing directly gameplay relevant tough.
But after i installed wine-1.7-dbg the game didn't even start anymore
(something like "please insert correct cd/dvd"), not even showing any wine
command line output to work with.
I've tried some no-cd's, but like my original cnc-tfd dvd i used before they
didn't work.
Is there any point in opening bugs if i can only provide wine cmd output
without anything wine-1.7-dbg may add?
(Also, i had to use the ddraw.dll&aqrit.cfg override (Bug33211) to get both
working (Basegame RA2.exe and RA2MD.exe. RA2MD.exe failed when i removed the
dll))
Thanks,
Thomas

Bug #: 31103
Summary: Jade Dynasty - The Program Patcher.exe has encountered
a serious problem and needs to close.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.7
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

This file contains the bug back trace.
I downloaded Jade Dynasty from http://jd.perfectworld.com/ unpacked and
installed it by clicking on the install.exe file from its folder
¨JD_EN_Installer_v352_20120402¨
I followed forum guides on how to install the program. Configured wine to
emulate virtual desktop and to use my Display full resolution. Game installed
completely without any errors with wine.
After installation was over, I closed the set up window. Then I clicked on the
game icon from the desktop. The game client didnt start and I got the error
report, which is attached.
Thanks for all who take the time to fix these bugs.
