Summary: All Winelib applications built with winegcc/wineg++
segfault on startup as of Wine 6.3
Product: Wine
Version: 6.3
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winelib
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: mail(a)robbertvanderhelm.nl

As of some commit between Wine 6.2 and Wine 6.3 (I haven't done a bisect yet)
all Winelib applications compiled with winegcc/wineg++ segfault on startup. To
reproduce this, create a file named `main.cpp` with the following contents and
compile this with `wineg++ -o main main.cpp`:
```cpp
#include <iostream>
int main(int argc, char* argv[]) {
std::cout << "Hello, World!" << std::endl;
}
```
Running this with plain Wine 6.3 results in a segfault, and I'm not getting any
symbols in GDB backtrace. Running the same binary with Wine Staging 6.3 results
in a `0100:err:seh:segv_handler_early Got unexpected trap 14 during process
initialization` after which the application terminates.

short log with exception-line
Starting the game shows the legal stuff and after accepting it the Client
Loader appears. In the Client Loader the Start-button usually switches to
full-screen mode and shows the login-screen.
However, since a few versions of Wine that's not happening, but the
Start-button gets disabled for a bit it becomes enabled shortly afterwards. And
that's it.
I also have Lutris running Wines lutris-5.7-4-x86_64 and lutris-5.7-11-x86_64
and both run fine.

Since f6e64c55f2ddcb92a9ff53f18d1b12f366dd4036, "ntdll: Set environment
variables from the registry on the Unix side.", the WINEPATH env variable no
longer seems to have an effect for prepopulating the PATH variable on the wine
side, in particular for allowing dependent DLLs to be found.

Screenshot showing the empty annotations window in Acrobat Reader
I installed Acrobat Reader 11.0.8 following the instructions on the appdb-site,
i.e., I used a new bottle, WinXP-version, installed atmlib, riched20, wsh57 and
mspatcha using winetricks.
As I am on Debian 8 and used the version of wine in the backports (1.8.4) I
manually installed Gecko and Mono before installing Acrobat Reader.
Although the appdb-site has a screenshot which shows that the annotations are
working, the text frames in the annotations are not rendered on my computer
(see attached screenshot). My configuration is:
Platform: x86_64
Version: Windows XP
Host system: Linux (Debian 8)
Host version: 4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64
Graphics driver: Nvidia 340.96
I also tried Wine-staging, Version 1.9.19, but the result is the same. Any help
is greatly appreciated (as I installed the Reader just because of the
annotations.)

While testing patch [1] it became apparent that mac name entries should be used
more often. For a font from fonts-femkeklaver [2] English face name entry
exists for mac platform only. We should pick it up as well.
P.S. additional improvement would be to lowercase locale names.

After setting up environment.
Maybe related to the earlier problem on 5.10-12.
It's an Asus ROG Phone 2 in case it's a file permission issue.
