The problem seems to be, that the "DirectX End-User Runtimes" are not installed during the setup correctly. This does *not* happen, if the prefix was created by an older wine version and then updated. After some trial and error it seems to me, that a "wineboot -u" fixes the problem. This also only happens with a 64-bit prefix. $ WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=/new/prefix wine DXSETUP.exe -> fails $ WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=/new/prefix wineboot -i && wineboot -u && wineserver -w && wine DXSETUP.exe -> works correctly -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. It is worth noting that the exact same text is printed if you execute a `wine foo`, which means that wine apparently somehow doesn't see winemenubuilder.
