Bug ID: 58150
Summary: MusicBee: Inconsistent directory monitoring
performance on SMB mounts via CIFS compared to native
filesystem (Linux)/SMB mount (Windows)
Product: Wine-staging
Version: 10.4
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: v_winebugs(a)outlook.com

Distribution: ---
MusicBee has a feature to continuously monitor the library's directory for any
new files that have ended up in the library. On Windows, this is pretty
reliable both on native NTFS as well as network drives via SMB. On Linux,
however, only the native drive seems to be reliable.
With my SMB drive mounted via Linux's CIFS driver, even though performance is
good on WINE's built-in file picker as well as KDE Dolphin, the continuous
monitor on MusicBee seems to be lacking in performance in comparison to native
on Linux and the network drive on Windows. Having 10 albums being scanned and
imported into the inbox can take up to 2 minutes if at all (MusicBee will
sometimes work, but most times not, you have to restart it to get it to see the
files where you don't need to on Windows), while it's basically instant on
Windows.
Also, sometimes MusicBee's monitor will immediately import the tracks, then
think the tracks are gone. Doesn't seem to happen with native drives on Linux,
neither does it happen with MusicBee on an SMB setup in Windows.
OS is Bazzite 42, WINE Staging 10.4 layered on top, MusicBee version 3.6.9202.

LTSpice has traditionally been a wine-friendly application. Not long ago, its
website used to explicitly suggest using wine to run the application in Linux.
Recently, LTSpice has become impossible to install because it stops with the
error in subject.

Starting Steam and going to the menu bar -> Steam and moving the mouse cursor
over the entry "Check for Steam Client Updates..." and then stopping the mouse
results that the mouse cursor is showing the I symbol (the cursor symbol that
for example also appears if moving the mouse cursor over a text area). Moving
the mouse shows the normal mouse cursor again but stopping the mouse on the
entry again shows the I symbol again. A workaround seems to be to close the
menu and reopening it.

Video showing the issue.
When you drag-drop a color MuLab starts a modal event loop and polls the
PeekMessage + GetMessage functions for mouse move and mouse click events. When
the mouse moves over different windows this should deliver mouse move events
with the respective window handle of the window under the mouse. If there are
several floating windows then Wine doesn't deliver such events, which is odd.

Main screen
The graphics in Kane's Wrath (at least on my setup) are pretty terrible. See
attached screenshot.
I tried:
d3dx9_29: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY error
d3dcompiler_47: Doesn't help, but now the EA logo flickers.
d3dxof: As above.
d3dxof & d3dcompiler_47: No flicker, but no improvement.
All three: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY
orm=backbuffer: No change
csmt=off: No change, logo flickering
Changing shader_backend made no difference.
renderer=vulkan Bug 54436
At this point I threw the whole of d3dx9 at it but I keep getting
GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY.
There should be no memory issues (it works in Windows 10, but better in Windows
7).
FUN FACT: Running with WINEDEBUG=fixme-d3d changes the pink bits to black bits.
Workaround unknown.

Wine 9.8 console log
The Command & Conquer 3 Demo (and Kane's Wrath full game) exits silently if
alt-tabbing out of the game, then back in.
Using a virtual desktop (of any size) stops this occurring. The game itself
"escapes" the virtual desktop and runs in full screen, but this turns out to be
a good thing.
My process:
1. Install demo (used WINEARCH=win32 but that's not necessary).
2. Set resolution to 1920x1200.
3. Start a skirmish.
4. Alt-tab out.
5. Alt-tab back in.
011c:fixme:faultrep:ReportFault 0031E800 0x0 stub
Same with 720p and 1080p. I haven't tried other resolutions as my setup cannot
seem to handle them.

I can't test with the native comctl32, though (it crashes the program on
