Your argumentation has convinced me.

But now i have really the problem to find a compiled newer version.
It's unbelievable that wine has such a bad support in Debian. :-(
Now i remember the reason for the missing updates and old version!

I have installed PlayonLinux now, so that i can try and use different wine
versions.
But even here the version manager does not run.

I will try to get it running and then i will test with the stable version 1.2.3
and maybe the current developement version.
