Summary: installation of IE6 SP1 on 0.9.25 fails Product: Wine Version: 0.9.25. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P1 Component: wine-misc AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: voidvoidpointer@yahoo.com
Each time that I tried to install ie6setup.exe with a virgin .wine directory, the installation failed using wine-0.9.25 on Ubuntu 6.06 on a Pentium 3 box.
When I set the Windows version to 98, an attempt to install a minimal installation of IE6 SP1 with "wine ie6setup.exe" failed to install all components, and the IE6 browser was not available for use.
When I did _not_ set the Windows version to 98 and left the version at the default setting of 2000, installation of IE6 SP1 does not fail, but that does not result in a successful installation. After a wineboot, an attempt to run IE6 results in a request to load Gecko components, and when that finishes, there is a pure white IE6 window with nothing else on it. Neither killing that white window nor rebooting improves results for subsequent runs of IE6. The result is always a pure white window.
The difference between trying to install IE6 on Windows versions 98 and 2000 is that for 98 winboot does not report any errors, but for 2000, winboot reports three WFP errors.
If anybody is interested, I can capture either or both sequences of error messages with script to yield a typescript file as the errors are reproducible.
