In know version 9.7 was able to render the graphics without the virtual desktop
mode. And I understand that version is quite older than 10.1.

(Sidenote: I'm having trouble using my own compiled wine version, trouble that
I don't get when I use the wine version from my distro. I'm assuming something
went wrong with the Regression-Testing instructions, or something else wrong in
my non-installed setup.)
