------- Additional Comments From philip@digitalinfinity.biz 2006-27-04 19:06 ------- The information in the article on http://wiki.winehq.org/OpenGL page is interesting. So let me get this straight. You guys actually expect the x.org people to reimplement part of x to fix a bad design decision made by you. I don't support that. I remember sending an email to the wine developers mailing list about this issue way back when you guys decided to make the change to this new design. You ignored what I had to say. I then dismissed the Windows apps on the linux platform something that will never be accomplished. I'm saddened that you guys proved me right.
You guys had a basically working design that would have eventually gotten you allot further back when you had the original engine. Its too bad you didn't persue that avenue. You would have had a working system by now. Regardless of the problems you had before. I saw it. It was working. And you threw away a working design. If you guys had placed resources into getting installers to work we would have something useable today. Right now the state of wine is currently not even close to being working. Thats really too bad.
The biggest chance for Linux to capture the desktop market is sitting at your feet and the technology is not going to be ready to take advantage of that.
