After consulting #winehq IRC, I was told to add a bug for this. According to
them, this seems to be an X-org issue. The error is attached.

This bug is likely to be invalid and indicative of a problem with your X server
configuration. What happens if you set wined3d to disabled in winecfg?

To disable wined3d, open winecfg and select the Libraries tab, then add wined3d
to the library list and edit the entry to disabled. If the application starts,
as it does for me, then this isn't a Wine problem and the bug should be closed
invalid.
