I use Fedora core 7.

The software is a simple administrative software (bookkeeping) without any
tricks, no graphics, no sound and no other whistles and bells. Still it does not
work!

I have removed .wine directory every time.

I do use the latest version. Now 0.9.41-1

Wine was installed by yum.
