I'm trying to use this exact software (new to wine as well) and I can't seem to
get it to make the Com connection.  I'm seeing the same error on the output when
I run the program.  I'd like to get this program working - I can run whatever
tests or traces that may help track this down.

Question - what do i need to do to set up the com ports before running wine? 
Anything?
