--- Comment #65 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-01-23 04:51:04 --- Hello,
--- quote --- Then SecuROM scans the disc for a short time (say 30 seconds) and produces a window with the following error message:
Roller Coaster Tycoon (R) 3 Please insert the original disc instead of a backup. See www.securom.com/copy for more details --- quote ---
well, this seems to be an improvement over previous versions (citing comment #46):
--- quote --- Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is still broken in wine-0.9.49.
And yes, it is SecuROM, as shown when attempting to run "wine RCT3plus.exe". A popup appears with only the following message, and a button that shuts down the program (and wine, obviously):
"A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed." --- quote ---
Can you remove aclayers.dll and re-run if the error message changes? I'm not sure if this check is used in Securom 5.x. The patch/trick was tested against *media-less* Securom v7.x game Sam & Max from comment #62 (downloadable from inet).
Regarding the overall situation for Securom 5/7.x with original media: there is little to nothing I can do. It's useless to make assumptions from console/relay output. This stuff needs to be debugged alive with original media present.
