Created an attachment (id=9288) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9288) wine output
Command and Conquer 3 fails to launch - the splash shows up but then I get a message box saying:
DirectX Error Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the Display control panel.
Graphics card is Quadro NVS 130 (Toshiba Tecra S5 laptop). I copied the wine folder to my PC with GeForce 8800 GTX and it worked properly there. Tested on nvidia drivers 100.14.19, 100.14.23, and with wine .48, .49, git.

--- Comment #1 from Ben Hodgetts (Enverex) ben@atomnet.co.uk 2007-11-22 10:59:15 --- That sounds more like that card or the drivers for that card don't support everything the game needs rather than a Wine issue...

--- Comment #2 from Ambro ambro@b4ever.net 2007-11-22 11:07:13 --- Well I still think is should be looked into becouse other D3D games work fine, and the game almost sure works properly in windows.

--- Comment #4 from Ambro ambro@b4ever.net 2007-11-22 12:04:21 --- After looking at the output more carefully I found out exactly what the problem is - CNC3 is trying to set the resolution to 800x600 by default, which the driver doesn't seem to support on my system ("xrandr -s 800x600" doesn't work). I was able to work around it by enabling desktop, chaging the resolution from inside the game to the native 1680x1050, and disabling the desktop. It is certainly a fault in the drivers as 800x600 is available on WinXP.
