Bug ID: 42370 Summary: Sniper Elite 3 stuck at "Completing Installation 1%" Product: Wine Version: 2.1 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: noonetinone@gmail.com Distribution: ---
This is basically a repeat of the close bug reported by 'acescopezz'. Bug #41493 describes what is happening with the title SE V2. What is different about SE3 is this game includes its own copy of dllcheck.exe. 'acescopezz' posted screen grabs which relevant here.

Could you try this patch: https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=57811&action=diff And make sure your prefix is set to Windows 7 (should be that by default).

--- Comment #2 from Andrey Gusev andrey.goosev@gmail.com --- Probably not a Wine bug according to topics about same problem on Windows.

--- Comment #3 from Anthony Jagers noonetinone@gmail.com --- Thank You Andrey. I had forgotten about this bug. FWIW, SE 3 doesn't yet work, for different reasons. I'm closing this as NOTABUG.

--- Comment #5 from Matteo Bruni matteo.mystral@gmail.com --- Maybe this is an application bug as comment 2 suggests but it's not that clear. Given comment 3 I'm resolving it ABANDONED instead.

--- Comment #6 from Anthony Jagers noonetinone@gmail.com --- How can you declare something abandoned when I just commented on it? It's my bug report. To me it's non-issue.
The "Completing Installation 1%" box is normal steam behavior. I see it all of the time for other applications that have trouble starting. When I fix what the problem with offending game is, the box goes away the next time I try to start it. What I'm saying is I'm used to it.

Maybe ABANDONED isn't the correct resolution but certainly NOTOURBUG wasn't either. Here's a quick cheat sheet:
- ABANDONED: the original bug reported disappeared or doesn't care about the bug anymore (and there is no easy way for anyone else to retest - that usually means no download URL) - FIXED: the bug was fixed in Wine; it can be reproduced with an older Wine version but not with current Wine - INVALID: it's an application bug or it isn't a bug to begin with - NOTOURBUG: the bug isn't in Wine but it is in one of the libraries used by Wine (upstream) or in whoever distributes Wine (downstream)
Feel free to choose whichever resolution matches better. Otherwise you can also reopen the bug.

--- Comment #9 from Anthony Jagers noonetinone@gmail.com --- SE 3 will work if you select the steam branch labeled [customersupportlogging].
