What seems to me is that somehow D2VidTst.exe is getting confused and writes irrelevant data to that key (at least with my configuration). As a "user", it would strike me as more important to get the game working one way before spending efforts getting it done another way. This patch only changes one line! Changing a call to the GetObjectType(hdc) to 0.
