Same error with 0.9.20. Again, as far as I know this game has never worked, just
posting these as bugs incase anyone wants to work on starting to get them working.

I should have specified, this is version 1.61 of the game which I hear from
killertux hasn't ever worked under Wine even with specific patches (which I'm
not using btw, I only test things with vanilla Wine).
Wine 0.9.20 fails with the same error. Looks like the game broke (more) when it
was updated. It never truly worked properly in the first place even with patches.

Summary: Wish: Please split vartest.c, it uses lots of memory
during compilation
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.27.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dirk.heinrichs(a)online.de
While compiling wine, compilation of file "dlls/oleaut32/tests/vartest.c",
which is 287k big, uses lots of memory (~1.5G), forcing systems with less
memory to swap and slow down considerably. So splitting this file into smaller
pieces would be a good thing to do.

Not that I'm aware of, I'll have a browse through the games settings though.
Afaik it uses bitmap graphic cursors just like Command and Conquer Generals does
(but at least in Generals you can see see the X mouse if not the game's own mouse).

It's a regression I'm pretty sure, I remember it used to get quite a bit further
than this, can't remember if it actually reached the menu or not. I'll
regression test it.

*pokes Mike*
I know how to do regression testing considering how many times I've done it
before. I like to think of myself as a fulltime Wine tester (taster? :P)
The game hasn't ever "worked" though, I think it used to get slightly further
than this though, I'll jump back a way and check anyway though.

asks how to install renguard on wine, so I downloaded it
from http://renguard.com and gave it a try.
The installer locks up reliably when it tries to copy files.
Doesn't seem to be an msi installer.

I was asked to get Instant Rails, a windows-only tutorial that sets
up demo servers for mysql and apache, working on Wine.
It didn't, so I started trying to get mysqld and apache's httpd
working on wine.
To repeat:
msiexec /i apache_2.2.3-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi
Choose "install for just me (uses port 8080)"
wine httpd.exe
It does listen on the right port,
but it doesn't respond when you telnet to that port.
It also spews enough messages of the form
fixme:sync:GetQueuedCompletionStatus
((nil),0x7cf1ea54,0x7cf1ea64,0x7cf1ea58,-1), stub!
to make gnome-terminal take 99% of CPU.

It is probably using a hardware cursor. Is there any option to disable it?
