Summary: Clicking Audio tab in winecfg causes crash
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.10.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: thomas.goose(a)gmail.com
Since upgrading to the latest version of wine for Ubuntu, I found no sound
coming from MIDI based applications running through wine and using Timidity (it
worked, although a little erratically, on the previous version {0.9.1?} ).
Clicking on the Audio tab of winecfg to try and fix these causes it to crash
with command line output
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:746:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports only
playback stream
Creating link /home/thomas/.kde/socket-thomas.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu for the BOINC main page, and
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu for the SETI@Home main page, so you can get a
project going. Unfortunately you do have to register in order to download, but
it is only so you get the credit if your machine makes a discovery.

That's nice. So please include a link to the download with the problem so that
people looking at this bug can download it without having to search round for it
then try to verify that they've got the problematic program.

BOINC is a free download itself.. it is the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for
Network Computing, which is what the new SETI@Home is based on and uses as it's
client

Is there a free download of software that exhibits the same behaviour?

The mfc42.dll at dll-files.com does not fix the problem. I was however able
to get my hands on a version that does work.

You should tell that M$ I guess <g>
setupapi requires user32 which in turn requires gdi32. Also OLE can't run
without few windows for it's own use.
I don't think there are any ways to remove these dependancies - that's the way
all this "designed".
