Summary: Selecting restart option during PAF installation causes
error
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.16.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alexeagar(a)gmail.com
While installing Personal Ancestral File 5 with all default install settings, except unselecting View
README because of bug 5627, I get a Warning that says 'An installation support file could not be
installed. (0x8000ffff)' This only happens when you choose to restart after the installation. The restart
option is selected by default.
This error should not pop up. Wine should run wineboot at the point when the installation requests the
computer to restart.
PAF 5 can be downloaded for free at http://www.familysearch.org/eng/home/welcome/
pafDownload.asp
I am offering a growing jackpot to the person that fixes this bug. Details can be found at http://
www.eagargospelstudy.org/paf/
To get the jackpot for this bug the error must not pop up and wineboot must run when the installation
requests the system to restart.

The wine 0.9.16 i got was from Fedora extras, perhaps they changed something,
althow i doubt it.
I think it's a wine issue, because i get the error with wine 0.9.16 and i
don't get it with 0.9.15. I didn't change anything on the WM between the
installs of wine, so it's not a WM issue. I can even run D2 from a source tree
of wine 0.9.7 without problems.
I'll do some regression tests.

Tiebreak patch
I think you're right that as long as you stay within the first 256 points,
there won't be any chance of different sequences comparing identically.
I think your understanding of the spec appears correct, too, but I'm a bit out
of my ken as well. If I understand it correctly, a tiebreak along the lines of
the attached patch should do it.
However, the VB runtime passes along flags to VarBstrCmp like NORM_IGNORECASE,
and I'm unsure how to deal with the tiebreak when things like that are passed
along. See:
http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr10/#Multi_Level_Comparison
Ignoring the flags altogether is also not correct, that causes some tests to
fail.
Any suggestions?

Max payne 2 has some problems with some actions... Pause and Use are not
working, neither the selection of gun with the numbers (1,2,3,...) It is not a
problem of which key is assigned to those actions, changing them doesnt make
this action work! I read something of this being a regression in the DINPUT
implementation...
In the URL is the place to download the game DEMO. No really sure if in the
DEMO the problem exists... guess so
