Summary: preloader and mmaping seem seriously broken on FreeBSD
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-loader
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lofi(a)freebsd.org
It has been virtually impossible to run almost any application in win98 mode
on FreeBSD for quite some time, since wine will always fail to create the
system heap at 0x80000000.
Furthermore, and this affects win2k+ emulation mode, too, the PE exes always
end up way beyond the targeted memory range (usually starting at 0x9c0000 and
upwards).
I'm not sure how much this really affects emulation, especially in win2k
mode - a lot of applications do work anyway, but some (in particular *all*
popular win32 browsers - IE6, Firefox, Opera) just crash and burn, while they
do work in Linux.

It appears that as of today's git, this no bug no longer affects 3DMark 2001
nor 3DMark 2003, although just through some collateral damage. I was going to
track down the patch, but ran into the compile issue from a week or so ago
while bisecting and consequently put that idea on the backburner. Vitaliy said
on IRC that he would continue to look into the issue and try it fix it for all
cases though.

Please attach full terminal output.
Also if you can, please verify if this configuration works under winNT+?

Summary: winamp 2.95 crash using in_zip plugin
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-winelib
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: agashlin(a)cs.rutgers.edu
The in_zip plugin (http://www.nunzioweb.com/daz/files/in_zip_v0_6_1_3.exe)
enables Winamp to play files within archives. I tested it with Winamp 2.95
(http://download.oldversion.com/winamp295.exe) and wine 0.9.17 through 0.9.14,
as well as built from CVS, and got a crash apparently after the archive had been
opened (the title of the first file in the archive is visible in winamp so it
must be able to read something). You can test this by simply zipping an MP3 and
opening it in winamp.
The error is:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x6f765f6b at address 0x51fbd881
(though I've seen values such as 0x0000001 as the write address).
in_zip appears to work fine with winamp 5.24 and wine, but it works with 2.95 as
well in Windows 98.
