Summary: Xinerama - Fullscreen apps minimized when focus placed
on app on other screen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.43.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: shivermail(a)gmail.com
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a fullscreen application with WINE >=0.9.42 on one monitor (17")
2. Move cursor over to other screen and place focus (by clicking) on any other
application. eg: Firefox browser
Observed result:
When placing focus on another application on one screen, the fullscreen
application becomes minimized to the taskbar on the other screen and shows only
the desktop.
You are able to maxmize that application again and continue as normal, but this
means that you cannot have a fullscreen application open on one monitor while
working on the other.
Expected result:
In builds 0.9.41 and prior placing focus on another application did not alter
the state of the fullscreen one.
Workaround:
When running applications in windowed mode instead of fullscreen, I do not have
the same issue.
============
Setup:
Gentoo (2.6.21-gentoo-r4) AMD X86_64
NVIDIA-Drivers (100.14.11) using Nvidia 7900GT
I am currently running fluxbox with Xinerama across two screens.
One 17" @ 1280x1024 and another 19" LCD (widescreen) @ 1440x900.
17":
I run fullscreen applications on this monitor (which happens to be World of
Warcraft in this case, using WINE and rendered with OpenGL).
19":
On this monitor I run everything else. Browsers, TERMs, etc.

This patch to propsheet.c causes Wine to crash when using the application Magna
Cura Äho:
+ /* unset active page while doing this transition. */
+ if (psInfo->active_page != -1)
+ ShowWindow(psInfo->proppage[psInfo->active_page].hwndPage, SW_HIDE);
+ psInfo->active_page = -1;
It was added in revision 1.169 of propsheet.c. Removing these lines avoids the
crash. The other parts of the changes done in revision 1.169 seems ok.

Output when running Word 2000 from the command line
I'm running wine 0.9.47 on my office desktop PC. Installing MS Word 2000 there
worked, but when starting it from the GNOME menu, an error message appears
(almost hidden behind the splash window) (re-translated from German): "The
Windows registry has found that one or more needed files are damaged or
missing. To resolve this problem, please execute the Word setup program. [OK]"
On pressing okay, the Word window appears for a fraction of a second (enough
time to type two letters if you're fast), then closes. Re-installing does not
seem to work, it does not solve the problem.
When starting it from a shell, the same happens, only that you cannot type in
the word window which is visible significantly longer (well over a second). I
attached the error output.
On my laptop, which has wine 0.9.46, the very same version of Word runs
platinum-like.

Summary: After closing the map-window, map-data reloading fails

The app uses two windows. In the first window you can search for addresses and
choose them from a list. After double-clicking an address a new window opens
and shows the map for the selected address.
If you close the map-window after displaying a map and choosing a new address,
the map-window opens again but shows only the old content.

Summary: native dll import broke in 0.9.44 and on
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: arno(a)teigseth.no
wtreader (Watchtower Reader) needs a native comctl32.dll to display a
tooltipbox when hovering the mouse over some link.
This used to work, but something broke from 0.9.43 and on.
Please note, I don't know if it would be correct to assign this to
wine-comctl32, the application is actually using the native comctl32.dll.
Interestingly, running winecfg and setting library comctl32.dll to NATIVE only
in 0.9.43 and earlier will let wtreader run.
But from 0.9.44 and on, if I set comctl32.dll to native only, a lot of error
messages comes up trying to run the app, saying something like "error importing
dll: comctl32.dll (needed by ...)" and also "error importing dll: commdlg.dll
(needed by ...)"
This makes me think maybe something having to do with calling/importing the
native dll broke from 0.9.44
my 2cents,
Arno

some debug logging when trying to connect to the lobby server
The game Silencer has just became playable again(the servers went down for
several years). When you try to join the lobby, it gets disconnected right away
and end up in the lobby but disconnected, you can't join or make any games.
The game can be downloaded from here:

It appers to be some problem with winsock:

I have tried wine versions 0.9.45 through 0.9.39. Anything less than 0.9.40
wont even run the tutorials for me.

Summary: City of Heroes runs very slowly when in-game "Contacts"

I have been trying to play City of Heroes using Wine on Ubuntu. It's mostly
working pretty good, but I seem to be consistently getting very bad behavior
from the game when I try to open the contacts list/window. Sometimes, when I'm
lucky, the game just runs very slowly, rendering about 1 frame every 3-5
seconds, until I close the contacts list. Other times, the video card graphics
get corrupted so badly that I have to power off the computer and power it back
on to be able to use the computer again.
