Right now IDxDiagContainerImpl_GetProp contains no implementation to return DirectX version and (I think) it doesn't work because of this. I think that this one can be easily fixed. I just need to find some DXDiag documentation to check return format and correct values for dxVersion. Root can do *anything*. Therefore, any crash in any program or library has the potential of wrecking havoc on your system. Sure it may be easier not having to sudo for tasks every now and then, but running normal programs as root is one the main reasons that spyware proliferates on windows machines. We have told you root is dangerous. There is simply no reason to run a user-space app as root. One bug, doesn't even have to be in wine--it can be in any library--can take down an entire system.
