In Fallout music is choppy, too. Turning emulation on doesn't solve the problem.
err:wave:DSDB_MapBuffer Could not map sound device for direct access (Input/output error)
err:wave:DSDB_MapBuffer Please run winecfg, open "Audio" page and set
"Hardware Acceleration" to "Emulation".

Summary: Wine version 0.9.41 appears to be at fault for WoW.exe
crash.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: yoda2031(a)hotmail.com
Although this is a system hang and therefore you are likely to blame my drivers,
I'm convinced wine 0.9.41 is at fault.
Whenever I run World of Warcraft, before it loads the character and his portrait
the system hangs. I tried copying across a WoW install from my sister's WinXP
computer which works fine on hers, and I tried the WoW install that was on my PC
and working fine before wine updated. Both had the same problem.
It worked under wine 0.9.40, but no longer. The console output is unreachable,
due to the system crashing.
Another thing I tried was windowed/fullscreen mode, and neither work. I haven't
tried directX mode, but I doubt it will have much affect, and even if it did the
framerate in dX mode is unbearable at 0.5~5fps.

Created an attachment (id=7190)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=7190&action=view)
Patched 0.9.40 run with WINEDEBUG=+pdh (pdh_32.diff)
No error message from the app.
Behaves exactly as original 0.9.40 (when pressing verify button, briefly
displays the verify interface, then returns to the main screen).
It seems function pdh.dll.PdhOpenQuery is missing.
