The 2007 version has a free trial. A related app has a 2005 version at http://www.zdnet.de/downloads/prg/4/9/de2549-wc.html This app (Wise Buero Komplett 2005) also hangs on startup, where it says "Initialisiere Grafiken...". It might be hanging on copy protection and/or the lack of the OLE interface to wine's riched20. I tried your patch on clean 0.9.41 source, and it worked. But because of bug #7512 I was mentioning in the first post, Imgburn crashes complaining about Unicode thing, preventing to test the patch...
