Works if you use firefox ;-) (winetricks is broken though, I'm about to send
Dan a patch).
http://www.google.com/pack/download/Google_Updater?hl=en&stub=on&ciNum=0&fi…
Gives me:

Is there a direct download link for this available? That URL produces the
error message "Google Pack requires Windows XP or Vista" for me, even when
running IE6 and with my ~/.wine configured to use version Windows XP. I'd like
to verify that bug 6194 no longer blocks this.

That does the trick!
Once that is committed, people can start using and filing bugs for
the compiler and IDE.
This bug no longer depends on bug 6194.
You have to do winetricks dotnet20 before running the
installer for now, so marking this bug as depending on 10601.
(You also have to do winetricks vcrun2005 msxml3 before
it will show you its GUI successfully, and winetricks ie6
before the new project wizard will show you its first
page properly. But those are beyond the scope of this bug.)

Yes.

No need. If you know the version, or something close, set it to that.
Otherwise, just ignore that :-).

Photoshop had a lot of people filing bugs, making patches, and testing it. Sims
just has people filing bugs and then asking for it to be fixed a lot.
Stefan has given the solution, but it's a lot of work, and no one's taken it up
yet.
As has been said plenty of times, unless you're reporting something new on the
bug, or offering a solution, don't post in the bug. It just serves as a
distraction.
