Terminal Output when installing against current git
Seems fixed as reported. Alexander can you please retest?
Tested against current git (wine-1.1.25-133-g7cc7e7b) with the version
available here:
http://www.thehandofagony.com/alex/sonicstage-3.1-cd
Terminal output attached and there are errors in it but the installer doesn't
fail to complete nor does it give the "Windows version not supported" error as
per the bug report so I would say it is no longer a bug as reported. Didn't
try to run the program though :)

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.25 or newer) wine?

The MSI bug is apparently fixed in Wine 1.1.25.
The MSXML3 bug isn't.

The game gets past the "??? Unknown Exception" message with wine 1.1.25 for me
and everything seems to work. It runs way too slow to be really playable
though. Animations, text typing, terrain generating,... everything is slow. It
could be because of the opensource r300 graphics driver I use. I get this fixme
repeatedly:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_init Trying to create a render target that isn't in
the default pool.

Summary: Sims 3: Crash when installing

Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msi

Sims 3 crashes at the end of installation with the popup message:
"The Program msi5fe0.tmp has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."
I'm running 1.1.25, installed this in a clean wine folder and I've followed the
recommendations from the Appdb how to install.
