That should dramatically improve RTL (arabic and Hebrew) in Notepad. You will also get the default uniscribe font fallback procedures. I tried switching the font and typing in Hebrew, Apparently with FreeSans I was able to see all the Hebrew glyphs but no Arabic glyphs although I wrote the word عربي in gucharmap myself so there's no reason it shouldn't work, then I changed the font to Arial and finally I was able to see both Hebrew and Arabic together. I think Paul Vriens has already suggested a font substitution mechanism that would solve this kind of cases, Can't remember when it was...
