Bug ID: 58571
Summary: On NetBSD, the case-insensitive mechanism for
filenames appears to be broken
Product: Wine
Version: 10.12
Hardware: x86
OS: NetBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: sagawa.aki+winebugs(a)gmail.com
I managed to compile Wine on NetBSD/i386.
(The compilation procedure is too complex to describe. pkgsrc patch is a good
shortcut.)
I noticed that the case-insensitive mechanism for filenames seems to be broken
on NetBSD.
Steps to reproduce:
% wine NOTEpad.exe
Expected behavior:
Wine launches Wine Notepad, i.e. notepad.exe, and shows its window.
Actual behavior:
Wine shows the following message on the terminal and no window is shown.
> Application could not be started, or no application associated with the specified file.
> ShellExecuteEx failed: File not found.

video of the issue
Expected behavior:
The FL Studio logo appears on the center with a transparent background, that
happens correctly with Wine on x11 & xwayland
It will also sometimes open the app on the second monitor and sometimes it will
ignore the gnome panel and fullscreen to the entire screen (like in the
attached video) and sometimes it will fullscreen under the gnome top panel like
all applications do (as it should) but I'm gonna make different specific bug
reports for those issues.

As of 17fb31af617cfb65de411c352480d0751f9c14e9, attempting to build and run
Wine built for the native aarch64 target doesn't work. I used the llvm-mingw
compiler from https://github.com/mstorsjo/llvm-mingw , but I don't think the PE
compilers are the issue.
Attempting to run any Wine program results in the wine process crashing:
attempting to debug the loader executable using macOS' lldb says that the file
is a "Malformed Mach-o file". Removing the
`-Wl,-segalign,0x1000,-pagezero_size,0x1000` sections does result in the
executable being launchable, but results in an executable incapable of running
a Wine environment:

Summary: AppDB rating system needs to be automated

Allowing users to select a rating (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.) clearly hasn't
worked. Applications are marked Gold and Platinum because the user likes it,
not giving any useful feedback about how capable Wine is to run that
application. Maintainers rarely do anything to improve this.
A rewrite, which won't be quick or easy, allowing the AppDB itself to select a
relevant rating would make more sense.
1. Does the app run? No --> Garbage. Yes --> Continue.
This is just a silly, simple, quick example. I am not suggesting a
"wizard"-style as that would be horrible.
I would also suggest that the rating is calculated (Javascript, for example)
before it is added to the database, probably in the current rating field,
hidden, so that the server isn't given more to do.
This should be doable without having to change anything on the database.

The programs starts with vanilla Wine+mono, but when clicking on some of the
left menus (for example Initial Seed or IDs & Starters) it crashes (logs are
provided).
Installing dotnet48 and corefonts with Winetricks seems to solve the problem. I
am no expert here, but it would be great if mono could fix this, so that it's
not necessary to install external components.

I want to use a DVD supplied by a computer magazine called Digit in India
on my system just as it can be used on Windows.
For that I right clicked Digit.exe & selected 'Open With Wine' in Dolphin.
There was a crash. I want to supply the crash dump. I hope that dump proves
useful & changes be brought in Wine so that the DVD can run on Linux in Wine.
Thanks...

In the register "Drives" the columns "Letter" and "Target folder" are cutting

does cut the last letter too in the german translation if this register is
