I upgraded to 2.6.14-mm2, and that solved the problem. The game itself is
nearly unplayable (it plays worse than on a 700MHz system with inadequate
graphics?), which is really strange, because people have reported that it works
under Wine, but at least it installs.

usp10 is very incomplete in wine. There are quite a few apps that break in
vaious ways with it set to built in.

Set DLL override for usp10 to disable via winecfg. Works.
Found a workaround, but tis fishy that it would crash if the uniscribe
library is available.

Confirmed that you can get through the license definition dialog before wine
crashes.
Tested with a new 0.9.3 .wine directory, same crash.

Still fails with 0.9.3, same error messages. bug 4022 was fixed by 0.9.3, so if
this would work, the install would probably finish. with bug 4031, though,
RiverWare will still not run.

Tested with 0.9.3, works on standalone machine.
Good deal. Now, of course, it won't run, see bug 4031. :/

Ok,sorry will do 1 bug at a time next time, and no I don't think the graphical
glitches are anything related to the Syberia 1 Demo, though it could be.
