Programs using a default wine install won't detect COM ports if only symlinks are created under ~/.wine/dosdevices. I have to manually add the SerialComm entries to system.reg, then the ports are available to applications. However, they don't work. The reporter uses a x86-64 machine, but this is on plain x86.
