Closing as abandoned. DXGrab does not work for the past several years. And
won't be used in it's current state.

I don't think this is possible to fix with the way windows programs handle
focus. Also because Wine relies on WM for proper focus handling. But some
windows, like menus, can not be managed which will hide them from the WM.

This makes bug fixed / invalid.
You should _always_ use "managed" mode - "Allow the window manager to control
the windows" have to be checked.

Summary: DXGrab not working with old games
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: website-bugs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: awakener(a)gmx.de
DXGrab is not working, even though i activated it as default.
I want to play Diablo 2 LoD in a window and to have a nice gaming experience
without annoyances -- like clicking on my desktop and loosing focus -- i want
to enable DXGrab.
I enabled it winecfg, double checked in regedit and found: DXGrab = Y
but it didn't work.
I'm using Ubuntu/feisty,
windowmanager: gdm
gfxdriver: ATI/fglrx
i tried: DXGrab: Y/N
and/or: Managed: Y/N
none of these Settings had any influence on the grabbing

Do you still get CPU usage issues in 0.9.49?

I had most likely the same bug (never got the game to crash, but (ingame-)
mouse cursor stuck after few secs whilst the system pointer was moveable. I
remeber this bug occured in a wine version released a few years ago, i used to
play moo2 in the earlier days (pre-fedora) without this bug. Now i retested
this, and could reproduce the bug on 0.9.44 (default opensuse 10.3 wine rpm).
I've now upgraded to opensuse buildservice version (0.9.49) and:
The bug is gone!
I did not change any hardware setup, but i too use a very old machine: 850 mhz
p3, 256megs ram. I played for about 30minutes without encountering any
problems. I'm -too- using a ATI Rage128 but had this problem on boxes without
any ATI hardware.
