Summary: Static sound effects with Syberia 2
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: daniel.skorka(a)stud.uni-karlsruhe.de
In Syberia 2, every sound effect is accompanied by a kind of soft scratching
noise (similar to a grammophone record that has been played many times). If no
sound is playing, there is no noise. Other apps with dsound work fine. Syberia
2 in Windows XP works fine. I tried playing with the settings in the audio tab
of winecfg, which didn't change anything.
I use ALSA.

Summary: Cannot change resolution in Counter Strike: Source
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.13
Platform: Other

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Can't change resolution
The resolution is not changable in wine 1.1.13 with Counter Strike: Source.
This worked in 1.1.12. I've uploaded a screenshot showing the options menu.
If I click the box to select, it appears to open a tiny, empty box.
If I put it in fullscreen, it shows a resolution, but I can't change it. I
have two monitors in TwinView, and it shows the resolution as 2960x1050
(1680x1050 + 1280x1024). It only full screens on my 1680x1050 monitor, so it
appears to be missreporting the resolution anyway.

I have successfully installed and run EQ under the following conditions today
and thought this might be useful.
Thank you to all of you who have put effort into this as I am delighted to get
it working and your comments helped a great deal.
System:
Fedora 10 x86_64
Linux 2.6.27.9-159.fc10.x86_64
Dual core Intel E6550 with Nvidia 8800 GTS (although output says its a GT type)
Method:
Installed kmod-nvidia from rpmfusion (this gave me the 64-bit stuff)
Added in explicitly the i386 package xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i386 as well
Installed wine using yum as normal - yum install wine
Installed everquest using the downloadable patcher - just ran the everquest.exe
basically from the zip file you can get from Sony
Used
http://www.wine-reviews.net/microsoft/directx-90c-march-2008-redistributabl…
from Tom Wickline to get DirectX to work (I may have done this bit before the
EQ install but cant remember , sorry)
[At this point although it ran I got the invisible models thing]
Editted the .dll file as described here (thank-you)!
[At this point I ran with visible models but crashed on trying to "Enter the
Game"]
Editted the eqclient.ini file as described here also.
...Works.
I hope this helps and I apologise for the hasty nature of the post
